BWE owned Norwegian offshore and marine supplier Halvorsen Power System has agreed with Wärtsilä Group to produce Wärtsilä’s propulsion control systems for vessels. Production will be located at Halvorsen Power System’s assembly plant at Bømlo, Norway, with a planned start date at 1st January 2016. By this agreement, Halvorsen Power System positions itself as a Wärtsilä sub supplier, enabling expansion in a highly competitive market.
– The contract confirms our position as supplier to ships and drilling rigs and we will need to increase staff, says Hans Petter Heggebø, MD of Halvorsen Power System. At this stage it is too early to state how big the staff increase will be, and what will be the value of the planned production.
Halvorsen Power System is a company within Stavanger headquartered Halvorsen Group. The company specializes in design, engineering and production of electrical and automation solutions for the offshore and marine markets.
The Finnish Wärtsilä Group is among the market leaders in Norway within machinery, propulsion and maneuvering solutions for ships. The group also supplies technical solutions for floating production platforms and drilling units for offshore and onshore industry.
